Going a diet full of antioxidants, such as those you can find in fruits in vegetables, gives your body a strong resistance against all types of chemicals which are known to damage your DNA and weakens your immune system.

However, that doesn’t mean that you should cut fats completely out of your diet system. On the contrary, healthy fats such as Omega-3 fatty acids which you can find in fish oil, flaxseed oil, and krill oil, and the saturated fatty acids found in meat and dairy products help strengthen your immune system and regulate it.

Something else extremely important that we all know but not always pay attention to is, of course, drinking large amounts of water. Drinking a lot of water throughout the day every day helps detox your body and get rid of all the toxins, aside from helping it process food and regulate the digestive process. If you’d like to go the extra mile, you can add a few slices of lemons to your drinking water, that will give the detoxing process an extra push and gives extra strength to your immune system.

Another tip that has been advised strongly during this Coronavirus era we are living is adding raw garlic and ginger to your daily food routine, as the garlic possesses strong abilities to fight off any kind of viruses and bacteria, as for the ginger, it works as a natural anti-inflammatory so, even if -god forbids- you got infected with COVID-19, it has been said that ginger can kill the virus right in the early stages before it progresses and causes any damage.

2. Working Out

Sticking to a regular work-out routine gives your body the strength to fight off several kinds of infections and diseases. A study published in 2019 has stated that practicing any kind of sport, even if mild, on a regular basis helps regulate the blood circulation and generate new white blood cells, which of course, results in a stronger overall immune system.

All of that of course in addition to all the other health benefits that come from working out, such as accelerating the detoxing process, strengthening the heart muscle, stabling the cholesterol levels, and of course, keeping the body fit and in shape.

3. Dialing down the anxiety

Chronic and constant anxiety can damage your immune system more than you can fathom. According to a study conducted in 2004 on 18,941 participants, experiencing high levels of stress for long periods of time weakens the immune system and will most likely result in physical illness.

Of course, managing your stress and anxiety during this extremely stressful times we are living right now can be a very dire task, more than it usually is, but there are a few things that can help. Try taking on a few new relaxing habits and integrating them into your daily routines, such as meditation, yoga, and deep breathing exercises.

A study that was conducted on 22,000 participants showed that those who get less than 6 hours a night or those who suffer from any kind of sleeping disorders are in higher exposure to bacteria and viruses, and are more likely to get sick.

5. Impeccable hygiene

As we all probably already know, keeping your hands clean is the best weapon to win this coronavirus war. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), everyone has to wash their hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds before cooking or eating, and also after coughing, sneezing, using the bathroom, or touching non-sterile surfaces.

6. Natural supplements

Although it hasn’t been scientifically proven that Vitamin-C can enhance immunity, we all know of hundreds of cases where Vitamin-C antioxidant has controlled the common cold and decreased the chance of catching it.

It has been strongly believed that herbs and acids such as those found in cranberries, lemons, and oranges can decrease the length and intensity of a cold or the flu if digested right when the symptoms start to show. So, maybe not a lot of studies has been officially conducted to prove the health benefits of natural herbs or natural vitamin-c, no one can deny the various nutritional values the give our bodies, which naturally results in stronger immune systems. This is why it has been strongly advised to consume large quantities of vitamin-C to protect your immune system from coronavirus.

However, it has been scientifically proven again and again that a person struggling with any kind of psychological issue, or mental illness, such as depression or anxiety is more exposed to getting physically ill than those mentally and psychologically stable.

Of course, it would be plain ignorant to pretend that not every single one of us struggles with their own mental health issues, regardless of the intensity. Especially now as the world faces a global deadly epidemic. However, there are several methods to follow to help control our mental issues and work them out so that they don’t take control of our lives and physical health, staring from avoiding triggers and negative thought, and up to seeking professional help with a licensed psychiatrist.
